Day 0 of the Cape Wrath Ultra
Nearly on the Cape Wrath Trail
I drove up from Cumbria on the Saturday morning and arrived at around 2.30pm. The registration was open 2-5pm. The process was very smooth and it has be to emphasised how wonderfully friendly everyone was. There is no doubt that everyone was surging with nerves and excitements and each member of the team was smily, welcoming and soothed us all.
We got our little ID bracelets on our wrists. Then it was kit check time - I was carting my large 79L dry bag around but only needed the daily running gear checked. As has been repeatedly stated by Shane Ohly and on all the documentation, they take this stuff seriously. Mandatory kit was properly combed over. Then we got our race T-shirts, if we had opted for that, our race numbers, and briefing on the GPS trackers and how they worked. (They are the type that have an SOS button and text messages can be sent as well.)
Mugshots were taken and that was is it.
I’ll add some more later. Meanwhile, on with the real business…
Dot watching
It is remarkable how one can while away the time watching little dots on a map. I’ve certainly spent my fair share watching past CWU participants. If you fancy a wee bit of ‘dot watching’ then you can find the link to the GPS tracker page here:
